(from Dec. Doug's family encourages friends and loved ones to add a memory and share stories on his Obituary page to help celebrate his wonderful life. Contributions in Doug's honor may be made to the WACO Historical Society in Troy, OH ( ). Visitation will follow the service from 5pm-7pm at the funeral home. A Memorial Service for Doug will be held at 4pm on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home. Doug loved to include his family in all of his interests that included piloting, aviation, auto racing, sports cars, motorcycles and music. He also played large roles in the development of DoD applications, including a passive collision warning system that significantly reduced aircraft training incidents. Doug became an accomplished electrical and RF engineer, spending his career designing innovative general aviation navigational devices. He moved to Columbus, OH to attend The Ohio State University to pursue a degree in Physics where he met Jane. Doug developed incredible interest in aviation, electronics, and ham radios (W8NFT) at a young age that would be the foundation for his career. Doug is survived by sisters Joyce Knife and Vicky (Keith) Warner children Melinda Lawrence, Kelly (Darrin) Endicott, Bill (Colleen) Gibbs, and Caroline Gibbs grandchildren Andy (Stefani Dutey) and Chad Lawrence, Corey, Bradley, Samantha, and Lance Endicott, Alex and Alicia Gibbs great-grandsons, Neil, Liam and Levi Lawrence and dear friend, Karen Cain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jane (Adams) Gibbs sister Sue (Stum) Begley granddaughter Hayley Gibbs and grandson Jack Gibbs. He was born on Jin Troy OH, to the late Roy and Areda (Ehlers) Gibbs. Paul Douglas “Doug” Gibbs, age 84, died Sunday, June 25, 2023. ![]()
